The role of citizen science in public engagement with socio-scientific debates

CES researchers and BioAssembler team members Rita Campos and Bianca Brito have published a new article in which they describe part of the engaged citizen science strategy adopted for the development of the communication materials.

In this article, they tell us about the results of two sessions with a group of youths on biosensors, biotechnology and science. After structured conversations around these topics, it was possible to make a preliminary mapping of the dimensions of representation and identity of the participants in relation to scientific innovation. These preliminary results are important for informing the project’s communication, but could also have implications for research and scientific agendas.
