Presenting the BioAssembler Communication Plan in PCST 2025

CES team member and BioAssembler Communication Coordinator Rita Campos flew to Aberdeen, Scotland, in the end of May to participate in the 2025 Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST) Conference.

Rita presented the project’s Communication Plan, focusing on the dialogical and arts-based strategies adopted in the production of the two BioAssembler books – the visual dictionary and the comic book. In a room full of interested people, she had the opportunity to discuss the challenges of communicating innovation in biosensors to non-specialist audiences. Despite their widespread adoption, biosensors remain ‘unknown’ to many people (see our paper for some insights on the subject).

The PCST Conferences are a key venue for gathering and discussing global trends in science communication, so this was an excellent opportunity to amplify our work on BioAssembler.
