BioAssemblage performance

BioAssemblage is the final artistic product of the BIOASSEMBLER project’s art-based communication initiative, coordinated by the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra. Developed during an artistic-scientific residency in 2024 at VTT and Biomensio in Finland, the performance reflects on the often-invisible work behind biosensor research.

Inspired by her time in the laboratories, artist Andrea Inocêncio brings to light the quiet, meticulous tasks carried out by scientists—processes that are essential but rarely seen. At the heart of the piece lies a poetic question: If acoustic resonance were audible, what would it sound like? Through image, sound, and movement, the performance offers a sensory interpretation of this hidden dimension of scientific practice.
