BioAssembler present at conferences in Brazil and Spain

June was a busy and productive month for CES team member Bernardo Valente. The researcher travelled to South America and then back to Europe to disseminate some results of his work within BioAssembler at two scientific conferences.

From June 19th to 21st, he attended the Triple Helix Conference in São Paulo, Brazil – where he gave a presentation on Scientific Partnerships and Knowledge Transfer on Recombinant DNA, focusing on partnerships between public entities, universities, and private enterprises within the Recombinant DNA field in the European Union.

During his speech, he highlighted how dynamics of technology transfer in such an upcoming field helps to comprehend the knowledge base of the most recent developments in the Recombinant DNA field and understand how those trends can become more prone to attract funding to keep defying the research frontiers of this scientific area.

He also presented about this topic at the XV Congreso Español de Sociologia in Sevilla, Spain, from June 26th to 29th. There, he provided information on how the recombinant DNA paradigm can contribute to a change in dynamics in global clusters for the production of sustainable biosensors – a discussion that is highlighted in this recently published paper by Bernardo and other BioAssembler researchers, Hugo Pinto, Tiago Santos Pereira and Rita Campos.

Participation in both conferences was also valuable for discussing our work with other researchers and enriching the reflections on the socio-economic analysis of the animal-to-recombinant transformation happening in the field of biosensing and DNA engeneering that the CES team is conducting within BioAssembler.
