The Centre for Social Studies (CES) at the University of Coimbra has opened a call for a Research Assistant to join our project. Candidates with a master’s degree in Social Sciences, Communication Sciences or Humanities, with a keen interest in research on the socioeconomic impacts of new and sustainable technologies are invited to apply and become part of our multidisciplinary team.
About the position
The Research Assistant will be part of the project “BIOASSEMBLER – Integrating bio-inspired assembly into semiconductor manufacturing technology for biosensors” (GA 101070589), funded by the European Commission, under the Horizon Europe Programme, and coordinated at CES by Rita Campos.
BIOASSEMBLER aims to develop a bioinspired assembly technology for the scalable manufacture of silicon-based label-free multiplex biosensors in semiconductor fabrication platforms. The project also focuses on assessing the socioeconomic impacts of these innovations. Additionally, it plans to implement innovative strategies for a science-society linkage and contribute to science policies and a more informed society.
The selected candidate will work on the socioeconomic assessment research and contribute to the implementation of communication products and activities.

Selection process
The selection of the candidate will be made based on curricular evaluation. In case of a tie among the best candidates, interviews will be carried out to clarify aspects of the curriculum, previous experience, ability to integrate into the project, motivation, and communication and verbal expression in English.
