A significant challenge in BIOASSEMBLER is scaling up the optical system for photolithographic DNA synthesis to accommodate wafer-scale production. This requires an optical system with the capability for spatial control to illuminate specific positions on the wafer’s surface.
The deliverable D4.3 details the development of a prototype laser scanning system for the photolithographic synthesis of DNA. The prototype device, built by VTT, consists of a 405 nm laser, a scanning mirror, and programmable controls for laser pulse position, power, and exposure time. The document discusses the technical aspects of the prototype system, including its design and operating parameters.
